Each object on display is a metaphor. An open dialogue on the theme of welcome, dignity, rights and subsistence, aimed particularly at those who are fragile, often migrants, often invisible. The intent is to generate a collective reflection on the passive assimilation to an imaginary that we have now integrated into our daily lives. And this is precisely where the project’s pataphysical approach comes from: through pop forms and ironic, cynical, playful languages – distinctive traits of Mamma Studio – an original and disorienting fruition is brought to life. The visual layout recalls an Ikea showroom display: furnished rooms, narrative texts, graphic and informational material. But behind each object lies a message: from the doormat that repels instead of welcoming, to the table that evokes deaths at work, to the curtains made from thermal blankets, everything speaks. And everything amplifies the social message that design can (and should) carry.

         Shop now

Mamma Studio presents “Casä Italiä” at Design Week: design as a political act.
